Marco Island Vietnam Veterans Memorial Marco Island, FL
Marco Island’s American Legion Post 404 is pleased to announce the approval of a Vietnam Veterans Memorial Sculpture to be erected in Marco Island’s Veterans’ Community Park. On April 22nd, the Marco Island City Council approved by a 7 to 0 vote the installation of a sculpture dedicated to the Veterans who fought in the Vietnam Conflict. Marco Island’s Post 404 has been working on the design of the bronze sculpture with a California studio in the same lifelike quality as the 3 Soldiers Statue on the Washington Mall. In an MOU with the City, Post 404 has taken responsibility for the cost of the statue, shipment, and installation as well as the landscaping and hardscaping at its location in the park.
The Post will be conducting a fund-raising campaign to raise the approximately $500,000 expected cost. Anyone wanting to show their appreciation for those that fought and sacrificed for our country may send checks to American Legion Post 404 at PO Box 1190, Marco Island, FL 34146. Examples of community related announcements are: Special events, fundraisers for your high school, college, church, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Elks, Moose, Chamber of Commerce, scholarships for the education of your children, youth oriented baseball or other athletic events, etc.
Other examples of community related announcements: Disabled veterans needing rides to keep their medical appointments. With their husbands deployed in combat zones, spouses with babies needing minor home repairs, batteries installed in their alarm systems, Veteran wives needing baby sitters during an emergency, etc.
If your announcements serve a benefit or improves the community quality of life, and is legal, Marco Island Post 404, at it's sole discretion, may post your announcement. Except for emergencies, allow two weeks notice prior to the event date.
